A New Supercar From Canada: The Felino CB7
In recent years, new supercar manufactures have been popping up all over the world. Some very quickly fizzle out and are never heard of again making only one vehicle model. On the other hand, others may just give the popular manufacturers like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche some competition.
Information about this new vehicle was gathered from our friends at Top Speed.
A new supercar has been released by a Canadian manufacturer called the Felino CB7. The Felino CB7 is a project from Canadian Antoine Bessette, who describes the car as “purpose built for the track,” but it could also be driven on the street. The project started four years ago and is built with high-grade materials. It was unveiled at the 2014 Montreal International Auto Show.
The nose is aggressive looking with inward slanted lights and plenty of cooling vents. The front fenders slope down toward the hood giving it a true exotic and futuristic look.
The back of the CB7 is a different story. A long sloped rear window split into two sections gives it a unique but not an eye-catching look. The taillights are long and molded around the rear quarters. Between them, below the license plate holder, the twin exhaust pipes exit only a few inches apart.
The CB7 features an independent, double wishbone cast aluminum suspension, front and rear with adjustable spring and compression rate. The disc brake system uses a six-piston caliper on the front and four-piston caliper on the rear with optional carbon fiber.
The body panels are made from composite and carbon fiber with an integrated rear wing. It also features side and back-up cameras. The length of the vehicle is 165 inches; it is 75.9 inches wide, 45 inches high and has a 96.5-inch wheelbase.
The interior has a seating capacity of two with six-point harnesses, a quick-release steering wheel and an on-board data-acquisition system, all standard. There is also an optional race suit cooling system for the driver.
Power comes from a cast aluminum 6.2-L V-8 with a 4.06 bore, 3.62-inch stroke and a 10.7:1 compression ratio. It produces 525 hp at 6300 rpm and 489 lb-ft of torque at 4400 rpm. The engine is connected to a six-speed manual or an optional sequential box that drives the rear wheels.
Estimated performance is a 0-60 time of around 3.0 seconds and top speed around 190 mph.
As far as overall looks, the CB7 could have had a different look for the rear. However, it still has the style of a supercar and with the performance it produces, it may just keep pace with other supercars around the world.
