Cluster Headaches: Finally Pain Free, Hell Yeah!
Not too long ago I shared tips on how to get relief from cluster headaches. CH is a rare disease, effecting 0.1% of the population, and to bottom line it for you; its humankind’s most painful disease and the best way to describe it is the feeling of a hot poker going through your eye, or to state it scientifically; it blows.
The most effective way to treat it is, unfortunately, illegal; psilocybin, found in magic mushrooms, will give a CH victim relief for weeks to sometimes months. But recently I found a legal method, for those who give a hoot, has been discovered.
I rarely complain about the headaches, as I used to have them 2-3 times a day, but one night I bitched about it on Facebook and I’m sure glad I did. Cindy, a friend of mine, replied to the post with a link to a message on a CH forum, 123 Days PF And I Think I Know Why. It turns out that this person took Omega 3 Fish Oil (3,000-4,000 mg) and Vitamin D-3 (10,000 IU) a day and became pain free.
The next day I took a trip to the store and picked up the aforementioned vitamins, and my life changed. That day I didn’t get one headache, and it was a day where normally I would get several (as the weather kept changing back and forth and that’s a huge trigger for my CH).
The second day, nothing, I had no head pain whatsoever. On the third day, still no pain. I can’t remember the last time I was pain free for three days in a row, without using mushrooms. I couldn’t believe it. I had suffered for over ten years from this disease, on an almost daily basis. This disease had caused me to pass out before waking up to chipped teeth, has ruined what would be otherwise special moments, have ended relationships, and here I was pain free. I actually cried with relief that day. No longer did I have to muster the mental energy to work through the headaches. I am the type of person who would insist on continuing to do whatever it is I was doing when a CH would happen. That in itself is exhausting, much less dealing with that pain.
It’s not that I’m above doing mushrooms; hell, I will even do them to help my disease, but it’s not as easy as one might think. Aside from it not being convenient to get, it has to be done in a very strict manner, where timing is everything, to help the headaches. Which means no matter what you have going on that day, you have to take your dose of medicine (and I do consider it medicine), which may not be that convenient and is actually a pain in the butt when you are not in the mood to have a Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds kind of day.
Since beginning this vitamin regimen I have only received about 1-2 headaches a week. Going from that amount or more a day, to a week, is amazing. It should also be noted that taking calcium, magnesium, and melatonin have also helped CH victims; they’re also good for you, so you may want to add this to the list in addition to the Omega 3 and D-3.
I am more thankful to Cindy than she will ever know, and I hope the word gets around to this technique, it truly changed my life. I can live a normal life now. Well, I will never be normal, but now I can be, for the most part, pain free.
