Corvette Pacific Design

Popularity initiates upgrades. Chevrolet has added an option package to the 2015 Corvette Stingray Coupe to resemble a racecar. In a Top Speed article, Chevrolet introduced a concept Corvette C7 with the Pacific Design at last year’s SEMA show. The design was so popular, Chevrolet decided to add the same design to the 2015 Z51-equipped Coupes.

The coupe’s exterior will be available in five colors: Torch Red, Black, Artic White, Blade Silver and Shark Gray (a new color for the 2015 model year). The Pacific package also includes a “CFZ” carbon-fiber ground effects kit, carbon-fiber roof panel, Carbon Flash-painted rear spoilers and mirrors, custom splashguards and rear license plate frame. Wheels are finished in Satin Black with red rim and the car sports red brake calipers.

The interior will feature Competition Sport seats with carbon-fiber trim, custom Stingray floor mats and sill plates. With the purchase of the Pacific Stingray, Chevy is throwing in an indoor car cover. Chevrolet is also producing an Atlantic Package for the Vette.

“One of the design goals for the Corvette Stingray was to provide customers with the flexibility to tailor the car to their personality. The Atlantic and Pacific Design Packages were originally designed to showcase how the Stingray could be configured as a luxury sport GT car or as a high-performance motorsport car,” Corvette’s exterior design manager Kirk Bennion said in a press release.

“We plan to make news with the Corvette Stingray every year, in part by offering special-edition models that offer a unique, personal ownership experience. Our customers have told us they appreciate these limited-edition models, which have become an important part of the Corvette’s legacy,” Todd Christensen, Corvette marketing manager added.

Both the Atlantic and Pacific packages will include the new Performance Data Recorder, which will allow the driver to record and share drive videos, analyze laps to improve driving and includes a camera in the interior rear view mirror.

The power comes from a 6.2-L V-8, pushing out 455 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque with a choice of either a seven-speed manual or an eight-speed paddle shift transmission. With the addition of a performance exhaust, both the horsepower and torque jump up five. The eight-speed transmission has five percent greater shift efficiency than the previous six-speed automatic. Performance is not too shabby either, at a 3.8 second 0-60 time and a top speed of 195 mph. At a price tag of $55,000, it puts this muscle car in fierce competition with higher dollar sportscars.
