Hello dear friends! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s collection of all of the most important news to hit the wonderful world of music. We have reached Friday! We are so close to the weekend I can taste it. Let’s get right down to a list of the greatest music stories from today’s news cycle.
The intensely interesting Kid Cudi gave an extensive interview today – in it, he discusses topics that include AMC’s hit zombie-killing TV show The Walking Dead, pop singer Michael Bolton, and his plans for his life now that he has left Kanye West’s record label G.O.O.D. Music. Kid Cudi is always an interesting storyteller and entertaining listen, so if you are interested, you should check out this interview. The entire interview can be found by following the link back to 2dopeboyz.
Alternative dance-pop outfit M83 has created the soundtrack to the new Tom Cruise sci-fi film Oblivion. This is sure to be an interesting collection of songs, regardless of the quality of the movie itself. To read more about the project, or to actually take a listen to the songs themselves, you can follow the link back to Consequence of Sound.
Singer Cat Power has released a new video! It’s good to see her doing well and staying active, seeing as how she was forced to cancel her tour due to health issues. You can check out the link to the video, entitled “Manhattan,” by following the link back to We All Want Someone To Shout For.
James Blake has been going crazy with releases these past couple of days! Today he went for the double whammy. First, he put out a new track featuring a spot from RZA, entitled “Take A Fall For Me.” And second, he released a bonus track from his new LP, which is called “Everyday I Ran.” To listen to the RZA song, follow the first link back to 2dopeboyz. And to listen to the second bonus song, follow the second link back to The Music Ninja.
The lineup for Summerfest 2013 has arrived! The Milwaukee festival is self-proclaimed as the “World’s Largest Music Festival,” with over 700 bands performing on 11 stages over an 11 day period. This year’s lineup promises to be insane, with appearances from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Eagles, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, MGMT, Diplo, Yeasayer, Pretty Lights, Atmosphere, Silversun Pickups, Billy Idol, Cake, Dr. John, LL Cool J, and The Features.
