Daily Round-Up For April 7, 2013
Hey hey hey! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s very own collection of all of the greatest, most interesting, and most important news to bubble to the surface of the wonderful world of popular and independent music. Today is Sunday, the universal day of rest and relaxation. But for the music world and the Round-Up, the train never stops! And the news just keeps flowing. So without much more blabbering to do, let’s get right to business!
Every day, James Blake seems to divulge more from his upcoming new sophomore LP. After a few days and a few tracks, it seems we are getting a larger view of the direction the producer is taking with his new album. The Dancing Astronaut has put together an interesting recap of the past few days, in which they theorize that his new sound is inspired by hip-hop. If you would like to read more about James Blake’s new album, you can follow the link back to The Dancing Astronaut.
Jamie Jones has put out a new remix, this time of alternative band The xx, and their track “Sunset.” You can listen to the new song by following the link back The Dancing Astronaut.
That crazy cat Danny Brown has put out a new track, which he is calling “Express Yourself.” Apparently the song is not a remix of a Diplo or N.W.A. song, but I’m sure it rocks just as hard. If you would like to check out the song or a little bit of its background, you can check it out by following the link back to The Line of Best Fit.
Late Night television has been doing pretty well with booking independent bands. These past few days, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have performed their new song “Sacrilege” on Late Night With David Letterman, and Cat Power performed play her new song “Manhattan” with the Roots as her super awesome backing band. If you would like to see video of either of these performances, simply follow the respective links. The first directs to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs performance on Consequence of Sound, and the second points you to Stereogum and their hosting of the Cat Power video.
This might be interesting news almost entirely because of this band’s name, but the artist Yolanda Be Cool has released a new track, which they are calling “A Baru In New York.” You can just figure it all out for yourself if you are interested. To check it out, follow the link back to The Dancing Astronaut.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
