Daily Round-Up For August 18, 2013
Hello beautiful people! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one and only collection of all the latest and greatest music news of the day. Sorry for yet another long lay-off, but hopefully the Round-Up will return with some regularity from now on. Let’s get to business!
Popular electronic DJ Feed Me, after recently announcing his return to music, has now announced that his new album will be released during the first week of October. You might remember that Jon Gooch, also known as Feed Me, swore to leave DJing to focus on producing a new set of music. Now that he has presumably finished up that side of the deal, and has returned to playing shows, hopefully we can expect more and more quality material from Feed Me. The full story is at The Dancing Astronaut.
Trend-setters Camera Obscura have returned from a baby-related leave of absence and are now in tour in support of their new record Desire Lines. This week they were kind enough to stop by the chill offices of NPR Music to record a few songs. You can hear some words and music back at the NPR Music page.
I still will never believe that rapper Chief Keef is as young as he is. This week he celebrated his 18th birthday, and commemorated it with putting out a fresh new mixtape. Bang, Part 2 will be available for free download wherever mixtapes are available. One of those places is The Line of Best Fit, where you can also find the full story.
You may or may not have been following the current legal trouble going on between R&B singer Robin Thicke and the family of Marvin Gaye apparently some disagreements over copyright claims exploded into a lawsuit from Gaye and his family, which Thicke has chosen to counter. All of the juicy and likely complicated details can be found back at The Line of Best Fit.
Super DJ Deadmau5 always seems to be talking. The Toronto native is very opinionated and likes to share his mind. And by no means is that a bad thing, but it does indeed generate some headlines. This week for example, Deadmau5 has spoken out about the advent of extreme risk-taking in EDM, with a special shout-out to contemporary Avicii for making something completely different. The full statements (that you’ll want to read) are back at The Dancing Astronaut.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
