Daily Round-Up For August 26, 2013
Hello dear readers! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s only collection of all the latest music news of the day. Let’s get started.
Whole Foods, known to many as the premier retailers of fresh and organic products, and known to others as one of the hipster stomping grounds of the world, has announced that it will begin to sell vinyl records alongside the kale and gluten-free cookies. I personally don’t think this would be that bad a move! The more places selling vinyl the better, and regular shoppers at Whole Foods are sure to have the extra coin to spend on an LP or two. The full story is at The Verge.
The video game Grand Theft Auto V isn’t even out yet, but hype and speculation from its ravenous fans has hit critical mass. And for us music nerds, today was an especially exciting day, because the exhaustive and awesome soundtrack for the game has been released! The amount of notable artists that have songs included in this game is simply unbelievable. I would recommend checking out the full list of featured artist, arranged by their respective genre and radio station, back at Consequence of Sound.
Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails continues to ruffle feathers with his uncensored and critical comments. Yesterday he tweeted in anger about his band’s upcoming set at the Reading Festival – apparently the festival management and Biffy Clyro, the band set to follow Nine Inch Nails that night, screwed up the band’s production. Reznor wasn’t happy. You can read his tweets back at The Line of Best Fit.
Lil Wayne is still alive! And he has triumphantly released the artwork for his upcoming mixtape Dedication 5, the fifth installment of an extremely popular series of mixtape for the popular rapper. Hopefully Wayne will make some moves to try to get back on top like he once was. You can check out the artwork at 2dopeboyz.
And for those of you who had a little bit too much fun last night, electronic blog The Dancing Astronaut is here to save the day with another installment of their lovely Sunday Morning Medicine playlist. Every week the crew over at DA puts together a collection of tracks designed to relax, soothe, and nurse you back to health after a weekend of various fun activities. And the music is great too! Check it out back at The Dancing Astronaut.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
