Daily Round-Up For July 17, 2013
Hello, hello! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s first and only collection of all of the most important music news of the day. Let’s dive in!
The countdown to Earl Sweatshirt’s new album continues! Today, Earl has a new single and accompanying video. Hive features turns from Vince Staples and Casey Veggies, and can be found back at Stereogum.
The Music Ninja put out a couple of installments for their ever-popular playlist series. There is a new edition of the Indie Dojo, as well as a relaxed new episode of the Chill Dojo! Get your dojo on. The playlists are back at The Music Ninja.
Two of my favorite electronic-based artists, Jon Hopkins and Purity Ring, have been molded together on one song! In this case, it happens to be a Jon Hopkins remix of the popular Purity Ring track Amenamy. I like the take her puts on the song! Check it out at The Line of Best Fit.
Speaking of these two, they announced a handful of tour dates together! If you’re nearby to a show, do yourself a favor and head over there. You won’t regret it. The full list can be found at Beats Per Minute.
Do you like the Local Natives? Well how about Local Natives squared? Apparently, band member Kelcey Ayer has begun remixing his very own Local Natives songs. He started with the single off Hummingbirds, You & I. He puts a unique take on the song; it’s really interesting that he can see things from different angles. Check it out back at We All Want Someone To Shout For.
Passion Pit have announced some new tour dates alongside contemporaries The Joy Formidable. You can check out the full list and see if they’re coming to a town near you by heading back to Consequence of Sound.
And I’ll leave you today with a couple of interesting interviews to check out. First off, much has been made about the legal trouble the rock band Surfer Blood found themselves in last year. They made it out okay and put out an awesome record, but the road was tough. In this interview with Stereogum, they go into detail about their experience. And second, R&B singer The Weeknd has been extremely tight-lipped over the course of his career – so much that he has never taken part in an interview. Until today! So be a part of history by checking out his first interview with Complex Magazine. It can also be found at Stereogum.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love? Or do you have an opinion on any of the music featured in today’s Round-Up? I’m dying to hear from you! As always, you can contact me through my email, or through Twitter @RobinCopple1. If you would like, I can include your message in a future edition of the Round-Up!
