Daily Round-Up For July 23, 2013
Hello sweet readers! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s best collection of all the music news of the day. My hope is that you find something that interests you, and maybe something that will brighten your day! Let’s jump right in.
Today Dr. Dog announced they would be coming out with a new record, entitled The B-Room. They also put out a peek at the first single from the record. You listen to that and read some more details about the record back at Consequence of Sound.
Everyone loves the new Daft Punk album. More specifically, they love the new single Get Lucky. And that love isn’t just limited to fans. Artists around the world have professed their adoration for the song, and more than a couple have lent their talents to a cover of the throwback jam. Today, Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine threw her hat in the ring and came out with a cover of her own! If you’re interested you can hear it by heading back to Stereogum.
MGMT have been quiet about news regarding their upcoming new record MGMT. But today they gave their fans the gift of an advanced look at the album’s artwork. If you would like to see it for yourself, you can just head back to We All Want Someone To Shout For.
The Pitchfork Music Festival also just wrapped up! There was certainly a lot of activity and great music for the whole weekend, and if you were unlucky enough to miss it (as I was) then you’re in luck because pictures and video from the festival can be found over at Stereogum. There’s also a wealth of additional video on YouTube if you do enough digging. Check it out!
The ever-trippy rap personality Juicy J has released information for his new album Stay Trippy. You can find the tracklist and artwork for the record back at 2dopeboyz. Judging by all of the guest features on this massive tracklist, Stay Trippy might end up being a seriously impactful release in the hip-hop community!
Four Tet has also announced a new record, entitled Beautiful Rewind. The album will mark his first release since 2010’s There Is Love In You. To accompany the announcement, Four Tet also released a statement that included a couple sneaky digs at Jay-Z and the rest of the corporate music world. You can read that and all of the other new information back at Consequence of Sound.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
