Daily Round-Up For July 26, 2013
Hello lovely readers! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one and only collection of all of the latest and greatest music news of the day. Let’s get to work!
Metal band Locrian has been steadily gaining stock over the past few weeks. After pulling favorable reviews from both Pitchfork and The Needle Drop, the band released a video for their song Exiting The Hall of Vapor and Light. You can check it out at Invisible Oranges.
Party monster Andrew W.K. has announced that he will embark on a new solo tour later this year. Fittingly, it’s being called The Party Messiah. At the very least, there will definitely be plenty of fun to be had at these shows. The full list of dates can be found back at Consequence of Sound.
Rapper Kid Cudi has confirmed suspicions that Emile and Plain Pat will return to help out on Cudi’s new record Man On The Moon Part 3. The two producers have worked with Cudi previously and successfully in the past, and will be welcome on Man On The Moon Part 3, whenever that comes out. For the full story just head back to 2dopeboyz.
This week rumors flew around that the band Foxygen might have been breaking up. As of this posting, those rumors have been debunked by the band themselves. But if you would like to go and read what led people to jump to conclusions, you can do so back at Consequence of Sound.
It looks like Frank Ocean may have dissed Chris Brown. These guys have had some beef in the past, beginning with a fight over a parking spot earlier this year. This led to Chris Brown being the only person not to give Ocean a standing ovation at the Grammys, and since then it’s been nothing but bad blood. The alleged disrespect is to be found on a remix of the song Versace. The full lyrics, which were released to the internet this week, can be found at Stereogum.
Apparently Explosions in the Sky are collaborating with David Wingo to write a score for the new movie Prince Avalanche, starring Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch. Apparently the film looks good, and the soundtrack should be one of the best aspects of it. Today the first track from the score was released, and it is entitled Join Me On My Avalanche. If you want to check it out, just head back to We All Want Someone To Shout For.
