Daily Round-Up For July 27, 2013
Hello everybody! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one and only destination for all of the latest and great music news of the day. Let’s get to business.
In news that doesn’t really need much explanation, rapper Jay-Z met Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Not much else to say about that, is there? If you want some backstory you can head back at 2dopeboyz.
Trip-hop and electronic group The Foreign Exchange have announced a new album! Love In Flying Colors is set to be released on September 24th and I for one am extremely excited for a new LP from these beat makers. Check out the full story at 2dopeboyz.
This new song from Action Bronson and Harry Fraud has been getting a lot of attention throughout the blogosphere this week. If you want to take a listen to Water Sports, just head back to 2dopeboyz.
Mac DeMarco has also let loose with a new song, as part of the 2013 Adult Swim Singles Program. You can take a listen to Young Blood back at Consequence of Sound.
BBC Radio mainstay Tim Westwood has reportedly been axed from his stations Radio 1 and 1Xtra, after nearly 20 years of service. This is certainly very surprising news, and we only wish Tim the best in the next phase of his career. The full story is at The Line of Best Fit.
Another day can’t pass without a Blurred Lines remix! And today a particularly cool and fresh take on the song has come our way courtesy of Will Sparks. If you want to take a listen, just click on through to Oh So Fresh Music.
AlunaGeorge have begun streaming their debut record Body Music online for free, ahead of its upcoming release on July 30th. Few bands that I can remember have garnered this much press and excitement before a debut release. I have to think that’s a good omen! Hopefully the album is great. If you want to hear it, just click over to The Line of Best Fit!
The Lonely Island took their unique brand of comedic music to Late Night With Jimmy Fallon this week, to perform their hit single YOLO. The song usually features Kendrick Lamar and Adam Levine, but their spots were filled by the Roots, Black Thought, and Jimmy Fallon himself. It ended up being a pretty awesome performance. You should check it out back at Stereogum!
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
