Daily Round-Up For July 29, 2013

Hello hello! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s collection of all of the latest and greatest music news of the day! Let’s get right to business.

In some very sad news, R&B singer Frank Ocean has been forced to cancel the entirety of his upcoming Australian tour due to a tear in his vocal chord. This is a very serious injury for a singer and we wish him the absolute best possible recovery. The full story is at Rolling Stone.

Kanye West has launched a new music program for at-risk Chicago youth. Say what you will about Kanye, but this move is a great one. And better yet, it will definitely help Chicago in a huge way. You can read more about this story back at Stereogum.

That catchy new Ellie Goulding song Burn has been out for a couple of weeks – it was just begging to be remixed! Thankfully popular DJ and producer Tiesto has obliged and provided us with a fresh new take on the song. You can listen back at the Dancing Astronaut.

The hip-hop publication Real Talk Hip-Hop got the chance to sit down with rapper Schoolboy Q this week. In the interview, Schoolboy Q shares his thoughts on his new record Oxymoron, Mac Miller, the show Californication, and a bunch of other things. You can check it out at 2dopeboyz.

The Dancing Astronaut has a very interesting series called DA’s Best of Instagram, where DJs and producers with Instragram accounts are featured. This week was a particularly funny and insightful edition, with pictures of the crazy lives these musicians lead. If you’re interested, check it out back at the Dancing Astronaut.

The other awesome series that Dancing Astronaut does well is their Sunday Morning Medicine. Each week the guys over at DA choose a few tracks that are relaxing and soothing to help you recover after a long weekend of partying hard. There are some cool tracks this week, so be sure to check it out at the Dancing Astronaut.

Asher Roth put out a mixtape called The Greenhouse Effect Vol. 2 a few weeks ago. Since then, a song from the tape called Pearly Gates has been making the rounds, and today it was hit with a remix by a DJ named Concept. If you would to check out the new remix of the song, you can do so by heading back to 2dopeboyz.

And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here.
