Daily Round-Up For June 18, 2013
Hello all! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one and only collection of all of the latest and greatest music news of the day. Let’s dive right in!
Asher Roth has been dropping tracks daily from his upcoming mixtape Greenhouse Effect, Vol. 2. Today is no exception, as he had dropped another song, entitled “Treat Me Like Fire,” for your listening pleasure. If you would like, you can follow the link back to Oh So Fresh Music to give the track a listen. And if you are a fan, be sure to check out Greenhouse Effect, Vol. 2 when it is eventually released.
If you have been stressing out lately (and really who hasn’t) then you might be in the perfect mood for a chill new playlist from the kind folks at the Music Ninja! If you didn’t already know, “The Chill Dojo” is a collection of relaxed and acoustic tracks to help chill you out. On top of that, they’re good songs! If you would like to check out the playlist, you can follow the link back to The Music Ninja.
In a little bit of funny news, rising rap star Action Bronson told a story where he was slapped as a child for listening to N.W.A. I guess that didn’t deter him from following a career in music! To read the very funny story in full, just follow the link back to 2dopeboyz.
Superstar electronic music producer Pretty Lights is getting ready to release his new record, A Color Map of the Sun, on July 2nd. A thirty-minute documentary has been released, and it covers how the record was created – apparently it was a pretty unique process. If you are a fan of Pretty Lights, A Color Map of the Sun will be available for free download on his website and in a special 2 disc vinyl pressing. If you would like to watch the documentary, just hit the link and follow it back to YouTube.
And finally, today is a big day in music, especially for hip-hop. Three of rap music’s biggest players, Mac Miller, J. Cole, and Kanye West, released new albums today. Along with them, you can expect new records from 3OH!3, Empire of the Sun, Primal Scream, Quasimoto, Zomby, Lou Doillon, Bill Frisell, and many more! If you would like to read through a list of all the new releases, you can hit the link and head over to Metacritic. Long story short, this might be a good week to stop by your local record store.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! Check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
