Daily Round-Up For June 22, 2013
Hello there! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s collection of a few of the most interesting music news of the day. Hopefully you find something that interests you! Let’s dive in.
I know we’ve all heard a great deal about the new Kanye West record Yeezus. But if you’ve got room for one more opinion, NPR Music put out an interesting piece yesterday where they detail their thoughts. Have you heard the record yourself? Let us know what you think! And the NPR article can be found by clicking the link.
It seems like A$AP Rocky just got done building up credibility as a talented and entertaining rapper. But now news is breaking that Rocky has decided to take a step away from the microphone and work on his production skills for a bit by putting together a tape full of instrumentals. I personally can’t wait. Something tells me Rocky is hiding some serious producing chops from us! Check out the story at Consequence of Sound.
For all you indie fans out there, your favorites the Arcade Fire have announced that they have some new music on the way! And it’s coming sooner than you’d think! The Line of Best Fit is reporting that there should be music of some kind as early as September 9th. A new album is ostensibly on the way after that, before the end of the year. Hopefully they’ll turn in yet another consistently good release! The link is at The Line of Best Fit.
The Postal Service are having a busy couple of days! First off, the music video for the band’s new single “A Tattered Line of String” premiered. And they also made their television performance debut on the Colbert Report with Stephen Colbert. The link to the music video is right here at We All Want Someone To Shout For, and the Colbert performance is being hosted here at the same website.
Rapper Jay-Z made headlines last week with the announcement of his upcoming record Magna Carta Holy Grail. And today he made even more noise after news broke that he gained permission from Courtney Love to use lyrics from Kurt Cobain and Nirvana’s hit song “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” We don’t know how these lyrics will be used in the record, but it’s interesting news nonetheless. Interested? Check out the whole story by following the link back to Consequence of Sound.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
