Daily Round-Up For March 22, 2014

Hello pretty people! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one stop shop for all of the latest, greatest, most interesting, and most awesome music news of the day. Let’s get right to business.

A video surfaced this week of rapper Drake performing in Birmingham, England, where he premiered a new song, entitled Call On Me. The video also features Drake revealing that he has begun work on a new record. Check out the full story and watch the video back at Consequence of Sound.

The second weekend of this year’s Sasquatch Music Festival has reportedly been cancelled. The idea to stretch the festival over two weekends, an approach embraced by fellow festivals Coachella and Austin City Limits, was apparently not embraced by fans and organizers for the festival. Organizers made the decision to vacate the second weekend, and offer refunds for ticket buyers. The full story is back at Consequence of Sound.

The always-busy St. Vincent stopped by NPR’s World Café segment this week to chat and perform a few tunes from her recently released new self-titled record. If you’re interested, you can listen to the episode in full back at NPR Music.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon had an especially exciting booking this week – the amazing Billy Joel. The pop star sat down to chat with Jimmy, performed a vocal duet with him, and then played his song You May Be Right. As Jimmy Fallon would tell you himself, it was amazing. Check out the full story and video back at Consequence of Sound.

Kate Bush has announced an unexpected return to the stage, and has book 15 shows in London, all at a theater called Eventim Apollo. These shows mark her first touring dates in 35 years. Even more interestingly, the acclaimed singer-songwriter had apparently only toured once before in her career. Check out the full story and the list of dates back at Consequence of Sound.

Alternative rock band The Black Keys have outdone themselves yet again when it comes to strange marketing campaigns. This week, a tweet by Mike Tyson (yes, that Mike Tyson) revealed the link for an extremely strange video, which ended with a slide announcing a new album: Turn Blue by The Black Keys, to be released on May 13th. Try to make sense of that on your own, and in the meantime, head back for the full story back at Stereogum.
