Daily Round-Up For March 4, 2014

Hello beautiful people! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one and only destination for all of the latest, greatest, and most interesting music news of the day. Let’s dive in to the headlines.

A few very big artists announced upcoming new records today, including tUnE-yArDs, Coldplay and Kendrick Lamar, but perhaps none of them are as huge of a surprise as the news that Atmosphere are working on a new record. What’s more, the debuted a new track, entitled Bitter. Check all the announcements out at Consequence of Sound, The Line of Best Fit, and Stereogum respectively.

The Arctic Monkeys have shared a new music video for their new single Arabella, off their popular new album AM. You can check it out for yourself at The Line of Best Fit.

Kanye West’s creative agency DONDA has officially signed a partnership with Jay Z’s agency Roc Nation. Looks like two of the most popular rappers in the world are joining forces on yet another front. All of the history and technical details behind this merger can be found in full back at Consequence of Sound.

The Roots, Philadelphia hip-hop band and house band for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, have been extremely busy, juggling daily house band duties and readying their upcoming eleventh solo studio album & Then You Shoot Your Cousin. But that hasn’t stopped them from organizing their seventh annual Roots Picnic Festival in Philadelphia. Today they premiered the lineup for this year’s edition, featuring Snoop Dogg, Jhene Aiko, A$AP Ferg, Action Bronson, The War On Drugs, Janelle Monae, Araabmuzik, and, of course, a set from The Roots themselves. You can check out all the information back at Stereogum.

Today is New Music Tuesday! There are a ton of artists releasing new material today, but most notably among them are American Authors, A$AP Mob, Black Milk, The Men, Real Estate, Rick Ross, Pharrell, Nothing, Lushes, Eagulls, Drive-By Truckers, Lea Michele, and so many more. A lot of these albums have been streaming for free ahead of their release, and the links to those streams, along with a full list of new releases, can be found back at Metacritic.

And finally, if all that new music up there wasn’t enough for you, I’ll throw in the soundtrack to the new movie Mr. Peabody and Sherman. The score is by Danny Elfman, and it features a song from John Lennon. The soundtrack is streaming back at Consequence of Sound.

And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here.
