Daily Round-Up For May 26, 2014
Hello you awesome readers! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one and only destination for all of the latest, greatest, most interesting, and most awesome music news of the day. We hope you’re having a lovely Memorial Day holiday! Let’s dive right in to the headlines.
Superstar singer Lana Del Rey has released a new song, entitled Shades of Cool. This tune is presumably a cut fromher upcoming new album Ultraviolence, which was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. You can take a listen for yourself back at Consequence of Sound.
We have a couple of brand new albums available to stream this Memorial Day. Parquet Courts have a new record entitled Sunbathing Animal, and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are previewing their LP Only Run. Both of these records are available to stream for a limited time ahead of their official releases via NPR First Listen. You can check them both out back at Consequence of Sound.
If you’re desperate for even more music, NPR is also showcasing albums from lesser-known artists. Back at their site you can find The Ambassador by Gabriel Kahane, Invisible Hour from Joe Henry, Taylor McFerrin and his record Early Riser, and Comet, Come To Me, by Meshell Ndegeocello. You can hear all of these albums back at NPR First Listen.
Wiz Khalifa has been arrested for marijuana possession in Texas. More details will be released as the story develops. His arrest hasn’t stopped the release of a new mixtape, though. You can read the whole story (along with some tweets from Wiz himself) back at 2dopeboyz, and find the mixtape, entitled 28 Grams, back at The Music Ninja.
Morrissey of The Smiths played a show at a venue called the Austin Music Hall this week Luckily for us, the good people over at The Line of Best Fit were there to cover the event and reproduce in the form of some gorgeous pictures of the show. You can head back to The Line of Best Fit to enjoy their work.
It has been an extremely quiet three years for indie folk artists The Decemberists, who recently played their first show in that time. They play a career spanning 15-song set, including two songs possibly from an upcoming seventh studio album. Luckily, their set list was published for us to enjoy. You can check out the set list and all the details back at Consequence of Sound.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
