Daily Round-Up For October 2, 2013
Hey music lovers! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s best collection of all the latest and greatest music news of the day. Let’s jump into the headlines!
Alt-rocker Mikal Cronin has released the new video for his song Piece of Mind, off his acclaimed release MKII. The video takes place in a dingy motel, and it looks like Cronin is trying to do his best Kurt Vile impression with all the vibes and grunge. You can check it out at Stereogum.
The Avett Brothers stopped by Jimmy Fallon the other night, and gave a performance of their song Vanity, with a little help from Chris Cornell. They also were game to play along with some of Fallon’s antics. As a result they found themselves covering some heavy metal classics. The video is back at Consequence of Sound.
In case you don’t have too much new music to listen to this week (I know I do), the new record from Cage the Elephant, Melophobia, is available for streaming over at Consequence of Sound. Apparently the band has taken these new tunes in a different direction; there is an interview accompanying the albums stream that should clue you in to the new themes.
The electronic producing duo Disclosure is always at work playing sweet tunes. They premiered another fresh new Essential Mix for BBC Radio, and you lucky readers can listen to it in its entirety, thanks to The Line of Best Fit. Check it out!
The new record from Moby may have gotten lost in all the album release craziness this week, but it’s still very much a legitimate and long-awaited release from a popular producer. This week he took to Conan to promote his new tunes with a bit of an unorthodox performance. If you’re interested you can check that out back at Consequence of Sound.
Sky Ferreira has finally opened up about her recent drug arrest with fellow musician, DIIV’s Zachary Cole Smith. In an interview with Consequence of Sound, she assured all of her fans that there was absolutely nothing to worry about. You can read her statements in full back at Consequence of Sound.
You can never get tired of Deadmau5’s forthright and opinionated stance on all issues regarding EDM. Today he put out some more words, specifically in reference to product, art, and the execution of EDM. It’s always a trip to listen to this man talk. Check out his comments back at The Dancing Astronaut.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
