Daily Round-Up For September 18, 2013

Hello music lovers! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one stop shop for all of the latest music news of the day. Let’s dive right in!

Foxygen have some good news and some bad news for us today. On a sadder note, the band have been forced to cancel some tour dates as they continue to recover from a gruesome injury sustained by a band member earlier in the year. But on the bright side, they have a crazy awesome new video out for us all to enjoy. It’s the title track for their latest record We Are The 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic. Be sure to read the full story and watch the video back at Consequence of Sound.

I thought we were done with veteran rock stars stirring up controversy after Trent Reznor went on about four tirades earlier in the month. But Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age was not about to stifle his sour words directed at rapper Jay Z, who put on the Made In America festival last week. You can read Homme’s comments back at Consequence of Sound.

It looks like Pusha T is about to drop a really really good record. He has let loose with a new track, featuring Kendrick Lamar, from his upcoming album My Name Is My Name. And its quality falls in line with his other singles Sweet Serenade, and Numbers On The Boards – it’s just an awesome song. Be sure to check it out, along with a nice description, over at The Needle Drop.

Apple has a history of making stars with their soundtrack choices for their commercials. And it’s looking like that trend is going to continue, as the new iPhone 5C commercial has been adorned with a perfectly appropriate song by indie rock band Sleigh Bells. You can listen to the song and watch the commercial back at Stereogum.

MGMT have put out a new video, this time for their track Cool Song No. 2. It looks like the video itself is a pretty wild ride, but the song doesn’t sound too bad either! The psychedelics also announced some more tour dates for later this year and early in 2014. The band will be hitting spots seemingly all around the world, so if you have the chance to see them, I recommend you take it! The full story and the song are back at Consequence of Sound.
