Daily Round-Up For September 8, 2013
Hello music fans and happy Sunday! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one and only collection of all the music news of the day. Let’s dive into the headlines!
Electronic producer Kaskade has released an early stream for his upcoming record, Atmosphere. So if you’re interested, you can listen to the album before it’s upcoming release on September 10th. Check it out at The Dancing Astronaut!
Unfortunately, the popular alt-rock band Phoenix has been forced to cancel their show at the upcoming iTunes Music Festival in London due to a sickness within the band. They will be missed, but thankfully there are still plenty of great acts set to perform at the festival! Check out the full story at The Line of Best Fit.
We are finding news about new Arcade Fire music in extremely small doses, so our apologies if you don’t exactly jump out of your chair over a preview for the artwork for a promotional single. But, as it turns out, the artwork for the band’s new single Reflektor is in fact pretty cool. If you want to check it out, head back to Consequence of Sound.
Last week The Queens of the Stone Age recorded a cover of the new Arctic Monkeys song Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High? I thought this was slightly strange because generally you’d think the Arctic Monkeys would be covering the Queens of the Stone Age, but the cover is a very cool rendition of the tune. Be sure to check it out back at We All Want Someone To Shout For.
The alternative rock band Stars has released a rocking new single, presumably a cut off an upcoming release. If you would like to give it a listen, just head back to Consequence of Sound.
In some “how did I not think of that before?” news, someone went and mashed up the insane, dark rap music of Death Grips with the melancholy and melodic alternative rock of Death Cab For Cutie. The result is Death Grips For Cutie, and it’s really something that one has to hear to believe. Be sure to check it out back at The Line of Best Fit.
And finally, for some lighter news on your Sunday, apparently Jay Z, Beyonce, and baby Blue Ivy went for a dip in the pool this weekend. The paparazzi managed to snap a picture of Jay Z himself jumping in the water and…the internet handled the rest. Go find out what I’m talking about back at Consequence of Sound.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
