Don’t Let It Rain On Your Parade, Get Dark Sky
Have you ever made plans for the day but you weren’t sure what the weather was going to be like? Have you ever been at the park when dark skies roll in and you wonder when those threatening clouds are going to open up and flood you out? Have you ever wanted to be able to predict the exact moment that rain is going to strike?
Well with the Dark Sky app, available on your iPhone and iPad, you may just be able to answer all your precipitous questions. Dark Sky, first reported on at CNET back in June, predicts the weather for your location (exact location) up to 60 minutes in advance.
The app uses geolocation to alert the exact location of precipitation and how soon it will be on your doorstep, or if it is going to pass you by. For examples: Should you leave the park because threatening clouds are heading your way? Not if Dark Sky says the clouds will just blow over with no rain. Do you have time to go cook that steak on the grill outdoors? Yep, the rain isn’t due for another 45 minutes.
The app has three main parts. A graph on the upper section shows the intensity of an impending storm, and the likelihood of rain or snow within the next 60 minutes. Section two shows the current weather conditions, including the temperature, and also what to expect in the next hour. You can also view the full day’s forecast in this section. The third section allows you to choose a location to get weather from.
With Dark Sky, you can also check out radar for your region, giving you a peak at what is headed in your direction.
Dark Sky costs $3.99 for the iPhone and iPad and is available at Apple’s App Store. Though it is a little on the pricey side for a simple app, it is a must-have for weather enthusiasts and far excels past other similar apps available to you.
