Ellie Goulding To Sign Digital Album On Google+
British singer Ellie Goulding is offering “the world’s first digital album signing” during a Google+ hangout today. Selected fans will get to join Goulding by preregistering on her Google+ page for a chance to score the digital autograph from “Halcyon,” due out Oct. 9. You also may get to join in the real-time video conference, provided you have enabled Google’s face-to-face chat tool. The event happens today at 12 PM PDT.
Goulding’s Google+ page also includes links to pre-order the album, due out Oct. 9. Ironically, Google Play is not one of the digital storefronts listed as offering the album for pre-sale. The Play Store does sell her previous album, “Lights,” as well as other singles.
“Lights” was released in early 2010, but slowly started to gain traction stateside as the title song hit radio and other online outlets. During her rise to fame she has performed for Prince William and Kate Middleton during a private dinner following their wedding, toured with Katy Perry and performed on “Saturday Night Live.”
Today’s chat is another in the growing number of high-profile Google+ events. Recently film director Steven Spielberg appeared in a Hangout to promote Lincoln, which opens in theaters in November. Google+ hangouts are also receiving television time, with a recent spot showcasing a father and his daughter staying in touch through Google+ while she is away at college. The pair also reminisce the girl’s late mother.
In order to have a shot at participating in the Ellie Goulding Hangout, you must RSVP to the event, add Goulding to your circle, and fill out an online form.
