F-150 SVT Raptor Coming To An End With A Bang

In 2010, Ford unveiled the all-new SVT Raptor version of the F-150. Improvements and upgrades have been added each year and the 2013 model remains similar to the 2012, but with a few tweaks. But the sad news for all F-150 fans is that Top Speed has found that the SVT Raptor will no longer be produced after 2014.

However, Roush Performance is taking a 2014 SVT Raptor and adding a little upgrade before the truck comes to its demise.

The Base model SVT Raptor features a 6.2-L V-8 with 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque. It is connected to a six-speed electronic automatic transmission that allows it to sprint from 0-60 in 7.1 seconds and have an estimated top speed of 150 mph. Not to bad for a pick-up.

Options for the base model include, ten-way power front seat with memory, electronic temperature control, power-adjustable pedals with memory, rear-view camera, remote start, Sony Audio system, trailer brake control, power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, HID headlamps, SYNC services and a navigational system.

Roush has taken the base model and as always adds some performance upgrades. Starting with the engine, the horse power has jumped to 590 and torque to 620 using the same 6.2-L. The 0-60 time was improved greatly with the add horses to an estimated 5.0 seconds. Top speed also rose to about 160 mph.

According to Auto News, the performance increase was due to the addition of a huge R2300 Supercharger and intercooler, high-flow fuel injectors, a few tweaks to the engine and a performance tuned stainless steel exhaust with chrome flashed tips.

The body is finished in red with custom graphics on the sides and back with camo detailing on the rear. Under the body sit’s a Fox racing suspension and large tires. The base F-150 starts at $24,215 but can jump to around $55,000 with all the bells and whistles.

If you want to upgrade your base Raptor yourself, then Stage 3 Motorsports is the place to call. They have a huge line of aftermarket and performance parts designed for on and off-road use to boost your SVT Raptor to a whole new level of fun.

Evan more than the Roush upgrades, Stage 3 offers a Whipple 2.9-L Twin-Screw Supercharger and a ProCharger I-1 Variable Boost system that can give your already potent beast a whopping 635 horses. The boost system bolts to the transmission allowing you to get maximum power while still enjoying good fuel mileage.
