International Weather Outlook: August 31, 2013

Weather Forecast for North America on August 31, 2013
A frontal boundary moving through portions of the northeast US will bring showers to the area. A low pressure area moving over Greenland will bring showers to the region. High pressure over the central US and southeast US will bring very warm weather to the region. Temps will be in the 30’s over Greenland warming to the 50’s and 60’s for the east coast of Canada and the 60’s and 70’s for the eastern US. Temps will warm to the 70’s and 80’s along the southeast and Gulf Coast with a few 90’s also possible. Temps will be hot over the Plains again with temps in the 90’s and a few 100’s from Texas to the Dakota’s. The west coast will see temps in the 80’s.
Weather Forecast for South America on August 31, 2013
Peru to Brazil partly cloudy skies will prevail; these conditions will extend further southward into northern Chile and Argentina. A strong cold front will bring another day of snow and rain to southern Chile and southern Argentina. Temps will be in the 80’s for eastern Brazil, cooling to the 70’s over Peru. It will further cool to the 20’s and 30’s in the Andes and also over southern Chile and southern Argentina.
Weather Forecast for Europe and the Middle East on August 31, 2013
High pressure to the west of the area will provide the region with partly cloudy skies from England to northern Europe, into Spain and eastward across Italy and Germany. A few showers will be possible over Moscow. The Middle East will see another hot day with sunny skies. Temps will be in the 60’s and 70’s over northern Europe and into central Europe along with England. Temps will warm into the 80’s and a few 90’s from southern Spain to Italy. Temps will be in the 100-110 range for the Middle East again.
Weather Forecast for Africa and the Cape Verde and Madagascar Islands on August 31, 2013
Partly cloudy skies over northern Africa will give way to showers over portions of central Africa along the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). Strong winds in store for South Africa along with partly cloudy skies; this will extend over to Madagascar, as well. The Cape Verde Islands will see increase in winds as two tropical waves move through the region. Northern and central Africa will see temps in the 80’s with a few 90’s over the north; Southern Africa will be in the 60’s and 70’s.
Weather Forecast for Southeast Asia on August 31, 2013
The southwest monsoon will again bring moderate rainfall to portions of Sri Lanka and India, while a strong tropical wave moving across the Indian Ocean will need to be watched for possible tropical development. Singapore to Malaysia and northward into Thailand will see afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Temps will be in the 80’s and 90’s from India to Sri Lanka eastward into Singapore and north into Thailand as well.
Weather Forecast for Eastern Asia and the island of (Guam) on August 31, 2013
Partly cloudy skies associated with high pressure will dominate the weather from northeast Russia into northern Japan and then westward through Shanghai. Interaction between a frontal boundary and the arriving tropical storm will bring periods of heavy rainfall to Japan this weekend. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms will be possible from Hong Kong to Manila and eastward into Guam. Colder air in place over northeast Russia as the Siberian high moves through the region. This will bring temps into the 40’s and 50’s for the area. Temps will be in the 70’s and 80’s over Japan due to all the rain, while temps in the 80’s and 90’s will be possible from Shanghai to Seoul. Hong Kong and Manila along with Guam will see temps in the 80’s.
Weather Forecast for the Island of (New Zealand) and Australia for August 31, 2013
A frontal boundary moving through southwest Australia will bring showers to Perth, while partly cloudy skies will be found from Sydney to Auckland. Showers and thunderstorms will also be possible for Brisbane. Northwest Australia will have temps in the 70’s, while western Australia will be in the 60’s along with southeast Australia. Temps over New Zealand will be very cold with high temps in the 40’s.
