International Weather Outlook: May 17, 2013

Weather Forecast for North America on May 17, 2013

High pressure along the east coast will keep the region dry for another day; expect to see more cloud cover as you head north into Greenland and Iceland. Thunderstorms will be possible over the southern Plains again as severe weather is expected to impact this region. Partly cloudy skies associated with high pressure over the Great Lakes will extend into the northern Plains as well. The west coast will enjoy a nice day as well. Temps will be in the 30’s and 40’s across Greenland and Iceland, warming to the 50’s and 60’s across eastern Canada into the northeast US, while the 70’s will be along the southeast warming to the 80’s over the Gulf Coast. Look for 60’s and 70’s over most of the west, except the southwest were temps will soar into the 90’s and a few 100’s.

Weather Forecast for South America on May 17, 2013

Sunny skies will prevail through most of South America from Brazil to Chile, while showers will be possible over Argentina. The 80’s will be over Brazil, cooling to the 70’s over inland Brazil away from the coast and over to the west in Peru. The 60’s will be found for Chile and northern Argentina cooling to the 40’s for southern Argentina.

Weather Forecast for Europe and the Middle East on May 17, 2013

A frontal boundary approaching England will bring showers to the region; partly to mostly cloudy skies will be found from Sweden to Spain. A wet day in store for Italy as a weak frontal boundary sweeps through the area and creates a few showers.  The Middle East will see plenty of sun and warm weather.  The 50’s will be found throughout England warming to the 70’s over Spain and eastward to Italy. The Middle East will be hot again, with temps soaring into the 100’s.

Weather Forecast for Africa and the Cape Verde and Madagascar Islands on May 17, 2013

Northern Africa will see mostly cloudy skies with showers possible in the region, while the rest of Africa will enjoy sunny skies and warm weather. The weather will also be sunny for the Cape Verde Islands to Madagascar.  The 80’s will be found over the Cape Verde Islands cooling to the 70’s over northern Africa. Expect 80’s over the remainder of Africa, except for South Africa were temps will be in the upper 60’s. Madagascar will see temps in the 80’s as well.

Weather Forecast for Southeast Asia on May 17, 2013

Sunny skies will give way to mostly cloudy skies for southern India and the east coast as the tropical cyclone continues to move through the Bay of Bengal making landfall. Watch for afternoon showers and thunderstorms from Singapore to Jakarta and northward into Thailand. It will be hot across northern India with places in the 100-105F range, cooling to the 90’s over southern India and into Singapore.

Weather Forecast for Eastern Asia and the island of (Guam) on May 17, 2013

Partly to mostly cloudy skies will be seen across northeast Russia, while partly cloudy skies will dominate both Shanghai and Tokyo. Afternoon showers will be possible across Hong Kong, while partly cloudy skies dominate Manila. Guam is looking for afternoon showers as well, with a moderate easterly trade wind in place. The mid 60’s will be found throughout northeast Russia and into northern Japan, warming to the upper 70’s for Tokyo and Seoul and even warmer in Beijing, with the temps nearing 90F. Hong Kong will enjoy 80’s while Madrid soars to the 90’s.  Look at the 80’s for Guam.

Weather Forecast for the Island of (New Zealand) and Australia for May 17, 2013

Partly cloudy skies will be found along the west and northern coast of Australia. The same can be said for Sydney to Auckland, as well.  Western Australia will be in the 60’s and 70’s, while Sydney will jump to the lower 70’s, while Auckland hits the upper 60’s.
