Mario Kart Hits To Hit The Track (Again) This Year
Okay people, now is the time to cancel all of the plans you had for later in the year, request for some vacation time and say goodbye to your loved ones. Along with that you might want to gather some canned goods, a year supply of underwear and maybe some honey buns.
You, your friends and your television set are about to have some quality bonding time later this this year.
But, why is this so?
This is because there is a brand spanking new Mario Kart game hitting the Wii U home console within the timeframe of this year.
Oh, don’t you worry; there’s official proof to back this up. On the heels of Nintendo announcing their fiscal earnings of the past term, the big N sent out a PR email that has quite a bit of refreshing information.
“Based on the strong lineup of upcoming software titles for both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U systems, Nintendo expects to return to Operating Income profitability by the end of the current fiscal year. During the next several months, Nintendo expects to launch new titles in the Mario Kart (Wii U), Super Mario Bros. (Wii U), Wii Fit (Wii U), Pikmin (Wii U), The Legend of Zelda (Wii U and Nintendo 3DS), Mario & Luigi (Nintendo 3DS) and Pokémon (Nintendo 3DS) franchises. These games, along with titles from Nintendo’s third-party publishing partners, will help drive hardware momentum and introduce new audiences to the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS platforms.”
As far as anyone who knows anything about Nintendo’s lineup is concerned, the Zelda Wind Waker remake and Pikmin 3 games have already been announced and known to fans, but what has been a mystery all this time is not necessarily if they are making a new Mario Kart game but when exactly when it will be releasing.
The statement in the email put a lot of investors and fans worries to rest since it basically states that a new entry into the very fun and addictive karting franchise will be seeing the light of day in 2013.
As far as a set date or time frame, that could be anyone’s guess.
A good (and more precise) guess would be that the game could hit around the holiday season to compete with the likes of the PS4 and new Xbox console.
Another guess would be that the game would see a release date that is not so far in the future. Earlier, Nintendo reported that they would not have a huge press conference at E3 this year but their upcoming games will be playable on the show floor. Maybe the big is simply bypassing all of the glitz and glamour of a big press conference because the PS4 and next Xbox will steal the show no matter what, or maybe there’s another reason.
Maybe Nintendo plans on releasing the game in the next few months and wants to release news and updates on their own terms and not wait for the grand stage at E3 for information that they want to share with us today.
Just think about it, Nintendo does have the tendency to release videos (called Nintendo directs) to share the latest and greatest news.
Well, whenever it comes, we know that it’ll be sometime this year. So kids, adults and even you grandparents, get ready to get addicted all over again.
