New Wolf In Town Has Quite A Bite
Well known supercars like Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari, and a few not so well known manufacturers like Bugatti and Keating, all have super-fast, super powerful models, reaching 200 mph plus speeds, and sub three second 0-60 times.
A car company, W Motors, one that I have never heard of, has produced a vehicle to compete for speed supremacy. It is called the Lykan HyperSport. If you’re not familiar with the term Lykan (Lycan), it is an advanced species of werewolf.
However, this wolf runs on gasoline, prowls around the pavement and eats up its competition. In a world of speed, many automobile manufacturers step up to the plate with newer, faster versions, of their current vehicle line-up. Some even debut their rockets on four wheels at auto shows. Such is the case of W Motors, Lykan HyperSport.
Much of the following is brought to you in partnership with our friends at Top Speed.
The concept version of the Lykan was revealed earlier this year at the 2013 Qatar Motor Show.
W Motors plans on debuting the production version Lykan HyperSport near their headquarters at the Dubai International Motor Show between November 5 and 9, 2013. Then W Motors will begin production of the Lykan Targa or the less expensive Lykan SuperSport.
Not only is this car fast, W Motors has fitted it with a little bit of luxury too. The interior has an advanced ID4 Motion dashboard, a holographic central display HUD with motion and tactile interaction from a fighter jet. Plus it is illuminated with diamond encrusted LED lights. The seats are stitched in gold and the buyer will receive a Cyrus Klepcys watch valued at $300,000.
The scissor, reverse-opening doors are remote controlled and exterior body panels are layered armor-plate-style and made out of Kevlar carbon. W Motors claims the Lykan HyperSport is “the most luxurious, exclusive and technologically advanced hypercar in the world.”
W Motors has not released the engine size, but it will be a twin-turbocharged, mid-engine, flat-six, producing 750 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. It is matched to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission pushing the performance to near record speeds. The Lykan can sprint from 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 245 mph.
Price tag for owning this exotic machine will run the buyer $3.4 million, which is the world’s most expensive car and the first supercar from Arabia.
The styling of the car was inspired by the symbol “V,” which is the Arabic symbol for the number seven. This was the basis for W Motors plans for only seven units of this new super car to be produced for public sale.
