Severe Weather Watch: Sharknado 2

Last week, I told you about the cheesy goodness that was the SyFy Original Movie, Sharknado. Let me recap: flying Sharks, impossible hurricanes, shark tidal waves, more flying sharks, bad dialogue and did I mention flying sharks?

The online response to the first movie was so huge, that just one week later CNN is reporting that SyFy will be making a second Sharknado movie, this time set in New York City. The new movie should be released in 2014.

“Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm — on television,” Thomas Vitale, executive vice president of programming and original movies for Syfy, said in a statement. “The fans are clamoring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel. What we can guarantee is that ‘Sharknado 2‘ will be lots of fun.”

Sharknado, the Original, brought in a record 604,000 Tweets, so the SyFy folks are turning back to Twitter to give the sequel a subtitle. You can Tweet your suggestions to @SyfyMovies using the #Sharknado hash tag. One lucky winner’s suggestion is going to be part of the new movie’s title.

I know I have a couple ideas already!!

SyFy isn’t’ saying much about the plot, except that it is being set in NYC.

“We’ll be announcing more details very soon,” Vitale said. “But we didn’t want our fans to worry they wouldn’t get their fill of more shark fin, I mean fun, next year.”

I have some suggestions for that too. Sharks in the subway?  Sharks eating people on the Circle Line? Oooo maybe, flying sharks invade South Street Pier. Sharks eat the cast of Spam-a-Lot?

Whatever it is, you can bet I will be there to see it.
