The Mythical Chupacabra May Have Finally Been Captured

There is a mythical creature that has never been proven to exist called the chupacabra. According to legend, it inhabits regions of the Americas and is claimed to attack livestock, preferably goats, and drinks its prey’s blood. It was first reported in 1995 in Puerto Rico when eight sheep were discovered dead with their blood drained from the bodies and puncture wounds in there chest. During that year as many as 150 other animals and pets were reportedly killed in the same manner.

Over the years, many claims have risen with reports and sightings of this mystical and elusive creature. However, there has never been definite prove of its existence. A recent capture of a creature claimed to be a chupacabra by a couple in Texas might just have changed the creature from a myth to a reality.

A dark, hairless, canine-like animal was captured by Arlen Parma on Sunday March 30, 2014, in Ratcliff, Texas. His wife, Jackie Stock, told a local TV station, “He saw this strange animal up here eating corn. He called me to come and look, and I said ‘Bubba that looks like a baby chupacabra.’”

“I hunted coons for 20 years with dogs and I ain’t ever seen anything that looks like that right there.” Commenting on the sound the creature made, “A coon doesn’t make that noise, or a possum. What makes that noise? I guess a chupacabra does,” Parma said.

“The animal in the cage as best I can tell from the view is some sort of a small canine.” As far as being a chupacabra, “It’s never been proven to be a unique species. It was always something out there that allegedly was said to cause harm to people or livestock,” Brent Ortego, Wildlife Diversity Biologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife, said when asked what he thought it was. He believes that it is probably a type of canine with mange.

According to biologists, a chupacabra is a myth and there is no such creature. Comments from the online community are leaning toward agreeing with Ortego. The creature is a hairless canine with mange.

The family is keeping the creature in a cage, feeding it corn and cat food. They are waiting for a definite identification of what it really is and then what should be done with it. The features of the actual creature are similar to the legendary chupacabra. The chupacabra is said to have red oval eyes, gray skin, fangs, claws and “spinal quills.” The captured creature has oval eyes, although they are not red, it does have fangs, claws and gray skin. The coarse hairs on the creature’s back could be mistaken for spinal quills as described on a chupacabra.

By looking at and hearing the video, you can notice the creature doesn’t have paws as a canine does and it doesn’t sound like any other canine would either. Whether it is the elusive chupacabra or any other species, one has to believe that just maybe there are many undiscovered creatures out there waiting to be found.
