UP By Jawbone Lands On Android
The app, available for devices running Android 4.0 or later, couples with the Jawbone Up wearable computer for keeping track of various fitness data. It tracks one’s physical activities in order to determine the number of calories burned. Worn to bed it can also keep track of one’s sleep patterns.
It also includes a number of other health parameters to track, acting in many ways like an always-on personal assistant. For example, Jawbone UP will alert you when you have been idle too long, wake you up after a nap or during a sleep cycle for optimum rest, track food intake and assist in compiling information about one’s mood.
The Android version essentially mirrors what was already available with iOS. In order to get the proper results, one must wear the bracelet 24 hours per day. This is the only way to get the full nanny-like experience of having all of one’s moves, meal decisions and sleep patterns tracked by your mobile device.
The data collection and viewing is then available via the Android app, which has worked very well in my brief trial of the application.
