Watch_Dogs Gameplay Leaked!
Watch_Dogs, Ubisoft’s open world hack and shoot IP, is hitting stores later this year in November, but for now we’ve found a video leak of the game’s multiplayer mode in action. This is the first instance of multiplayer detail that didn’t come officially through Ubisoft and, as such, the video is a bit difficult to find. Luckily for us, a dedicated YouTube video was posted by an unknown source, showing off a bit of one-on-one. If you’ve played Assassin’s Creed 3 online, then you’re not missing anything different from this short of a few guns and shiny cars.
The game is really showing some Game of the Year potential with its kill or hack gameplay. In the video, the player is pursuing another hacker through the busy streets of a crowded Chicago. This setup is very similar to previous Assassin’s Creed multiplayer, particularly for its hunter/killer game mode. We have the bad luck of not being able to climb skyscrapers and hang pedestrians from street light poles, so we’ll have to settle with Aiden Pierce’s remarkable free running abilities, as they are combined with hot key hacking.
Visually you must keep an eye on AI that might be your human hacker, but the task isn’t so simple since there are so many AI. To fully do a background check on every AI would require at least ten minutes of gradual sprinting and button pressing; a tedious grind that we simply don’t have time for. To increase the efficiency of this search, the player hacked into a surveillance camera to get a better point of view of the courtyard in front of a building. In mere seconds, his target was profiled and already aware that he’d been found.
There’s no time to panic.
The hacker immediately darted in the opposite direction while our player broke into a quick and steady sprint. The character animations for the character model have been regarded to only satisfy the purpose of completely neutralizing your enemy, but whether or not that means killing them is up to you. We’ve already seen that Watch_Dogs is sporting an immersive moral system that properly paints you whatever color you’d prefer to be in front of the general public. Be warned: killing everything in your site will get the authorities pissed at you, and the pedestrians just a tad bit nervous the next time you walk into the local coffee shop.
The choice of hacking or killing is up to the player, yet we only see him use shock tactics and weeding out large crowds to properly find his target. As he chases down an alleyway, we understand that killing is just a fool’s errand; if you truly want to be stylish about it, you’ll need stealth and a lot of patience. Otherwise you’ll be stuck chasing down an enemy that is as fast as you are.
Nobody likes chasing chickens with a nine millimeter.
The first half of the video showcases the player chasing a target. Ultimately, his tactics have allowed the enemy to slip from his fingers in a shiny white car. Be that as it may, the mission is still successful; for what reason I’m not sure. Previous Prey vs. Predator game modes have stressed the importance of ending your opponent’s life. Many people have regarded this as a form of video game conditioning since we’ve never really been given the choice of sparing our enemy.
Like many free roams before it, Watch_Dogs aims to offer gamers a choice.
