What Do Rolaids, Festivals, And Spelling Bees Have In Common?
With summertime comes a surfeit of foods that can definitely take their toll on our bodies. From spicy bbq to citrus fruits and even into what we drink, our digestive tract feels the summer as much as our tanned skin and sun-bleached hairs. Only we suffer from the heartburn and indigestion of summertime foods.
Which is exactly why Rolaids is promoting its product with its “Eat Your Words” Spelling Bee challenge. Rolaids is a product that is supposed to help quench heartburn and indigestion. It comes in a tablet and liquid form although the liquid form is new for the product. In a press release sent out in mid-May about the upcoming spelling bee, the company states:
“The Rolaids “Eat Your Words” Spelling Bee will travel to top summer food festivals affiliated with the national Big Bite Tour, including Taste of Cincinnati, Safeway BBQ Battle in Washington, D.C., Ribfest in Naperville, IL, and the Music City Festival and BBQ Championship in Nashville. Spelling competitions will be held multiple times during each event day at the Rolaids tent. Winners will receive a Rolaids “Eat Your Words” Spelling Bee t-shirt, and all participants will receive free samples and coupons.
Rolaids “Eat Your Words” Spelling Bee participants can show off their culinary know-how by correctly spelling tricky heartburn-related words (such as sriracha or habenero) for prizes and bragging rights. In true form, the makers of Rolaids will bring you relief in more ways than one, providing every player with a “Rolaids Relief” pass to get a second chance on a misspelled word.”
So, from food festival to food festival, participants can spell words with a foodie bent, specifically those that tend to lead to heartburn and indigestion, and possibly win some prizes. Example words for the spelling bee were sriracha and habanero, but many others come to mind as I write this article. Additionally, if one cannot make it out to the food festivals to participate in person, then we can play online today, right now, at the Rolaids Facebook page. In this online contest, every day one lucky winner will get a $25 gift card. Weekly, 13 winners will get $100, and one Grand Prize Winner will get $500.
The press release furthers explains about the contest: “In true form, the makers of Rolaids will bring you relief in more ways than one, providing every player with a “Rolaids Relief” pass to get a second chance on a misspelled word.” What a clever way to allow spellers a second chance while also promoting the Rolaids product.
Participants will learn what foods cause heartburn simply by the fact that they will have to spell them. Additionally, they could win some money, a t-shirt, and free samples and coupons. Sounds like a fun way to promote a product and learn more about what to expect from the foods we eat. The more we know about how foods affect our bodies, the better prepared we will be to deal with the symptoms of our ailments.
This summer as you are out and about at different festivals, seek out the Rolaids tent to experience this “Eat Your Words” Spelling Bee. It is bound to be fun and entertaining while also informative. Plus, who doesn’t love a spelling be?
